I'ieng Simongi is human spirit. In the Bijagoi's belief - the clinging sound that we listen sometimes in our ears is the sound of our own spirit (I'ieng Simongi). It usually comes when we are in quiet moment especially living in the forest. During the night fall there is grasshopper like creatures that lives on the trees use to make similar noise and it tends to initiate our ears continue to listen to our own Simongi (spirit). It's like a spirit caller.
During the Gawai event our elders will pray and give offerings to the I'ieng Smongi (spirit) of our ancestors and also the spirit that bring success throughout the Padi planting period until the harvest.
